Services, Articles, and Building Your Catalog

Your catalog has two kinds of entries. A service is the work you charge for — it carries the price. An article is the physical thing you work on — it carries no price at all. Most businesses only ever need services.

The one-line rule

Service = what you charge. Wash, press, dry cleaning, a hem, delivery. It has a price and a unit (per kilo, per piece, per m², or Other). Article = what you work on. A cap, a dress, a blanket. No price — you attach services to it.

ConsejoIf you are unsure, create a service. Services cover every business on the app and support variants. Articles are for one specific situation, described below.

When do you actually need articles?

Only when you apply several services to the same physical piece and need to track that piece separately. A cap that gets wash + paint + a new snap is one article ("Cap") with three services on it — and the ticket counts one piece, not three.

If you charge per garment or per kilo without that kind of tracking, you do not need articles. Stick to services and variants — it is less to maintain.

Pick the right price unit

Per kilo / per pound for bulk laundry. Per piece for individual garments. Per m² for rugs and curtains. Other for anything with no physical unit — delivery, rush fees, a repair. "Other" lines do not count toward the piece count printed on the ticket.

Variants: one service, several prices

Instead of creating "Comforter wash small / medium / large" as three services, create one and give it a Size variant with a price per value. Color works differently: it is an identifier (which jacket is whose) and does not change the price.
